NY, NY--SERIOUS PPL MUSIC is happy to announce that Christian artist, Rik Doulos, has joined our family. Doulos has shown that he has a heart for God and his people in many ways. SPM executives first encountered Doulos at a Rock Cafe event in Brooklyn, where he humbly observed and supported others in ministry. He exhibited the right attitude as someone who follows Christ.

Born in Harlem, Rik Doulos started out in a single parent home and eventually lived with his Grandparents where he received his spiritual foundation. In spite of encouragement from his Grandparents to go to church and serve God in his youth, Doulos eventually encountered and ran with gangs/crews in the streets of New York and had exposure to the dark world that the streets of New York has to offer. However, God used a young lady (who is his Wife today) as an instrument to help him surrender his life to Christ.

Based on Rik Doulos' personal journey, he understands that he has a mission to

accomplish, which is to touch as many people as possible with The Gospel through the music. Christopher James, CEO of SPM understands first hand how much evangelizing the gospel means to Doulos. "A SAAB Tour stop was scheduled to be held at Lifezone in Queens and Rik Doulos was scheduled to minister. Leading up to the day of the event, Rik's Grandfather passed away, and I expected him to miss the event. He STILL showed up to minister, which showed me that this brother is soulded out for The Gospel." Rik Doulos has blessed the CHH community with songs such as "No Words" and "Soldier Anthemn" and also released a project entitled "H.I.M" in 2012.

SPM is beyond excited to have Rik Doulos aboard, and we would like to present to the world Rik's first single release "EvoL". We know that this track will bless the masses in ministry and quality. Stay tuned for announcements concerning the release of his first project release from the camp.

Serious Says She's Thirsty!

NY, NY--Brooklyn Femcee Serious is back with another track dubbedthirsty. Undoubtedly one of the highlights of We Ballin Vol 1 Mixtape,THIRSTY is a song that resonates with everyone as there is one intrinsic need in mankind: the need to be satisfied.

Thirsty  is a reflection of that point in your life when you are hungry for more, but just don’t know what you need. You think you need money, someone of the opposite sex or material things, but one day you try Christ and realize that’s all you needed.

Serious takes on the role of the unsaved person in the first verse then transitions to the person who has accepted the true “living water” then the rapper speaks to the person who is on the brink of salvation, not sure about taking the step, and encourages them by switching up her style in the last verse coupled with the change in tempo created by beat makers So Fo Real/Adam Hill.

Serious had this to say: “I get in the booth often because I want to consistently show young people and the world that we need him daily. Even Christians thirst and need to tap into the living water.”

Serious is gearing up for SAAB Tour 2014 which promises to be full of surprises.

Breaking News!

Brigitte James gets serious with ‘Shofar’

By Bill Farrington, CNG Newspapers (June 2012)

Like many kids growing up in Brooklyn, Brigitte James was going to be a rapper. It wasn’t until a spiritual calling became a spiritual journey that the Guyana-born James took the name “Serious” and is today a sought after Holy Hip Hop artist.

This summer, she is preparing to release her next mix tape, record “Shofar” her first album and perform at Higher Calling 2K12 in Brooklyn’s Herbert Von King Park, Saturday, July 28.

“My music,” she says, “speaks to those who are not necessarily found in church on Sunday morning, youths dealing with life’s tougher problems, being homeless or prostituting to survive.”

Her “take up” occurred at 17 years of age. On a Sunday morning, “I got up, dressed for church, sat there and began a conversation with God, simple as that” she said. Its a conversation that continues and grown stronger. Since that day, she has gone on to become a news and sports reporter, married mother of a four-year-old boy and a radio host before realizing her childhood dream, and not in the way she imagined. On “Set Up,” lyrics come from personal experiences, describing how her anger led to finding herself. Serious starts with the question “Have you ever been set up?” before the beat kicks in, rapping “I cried hard, so hard, sometimes I ‘member, the fuel in my fire was the struggles with the paper” putting in words the frustrations felt as a young teen, followed by the chorus “He’s setting me up for a take up.”

Although one of her most popular songs “Light it Up” is a reggae Gospel song, Holy Hip Hop or Christian Rap has not taken hold in the Caribbean community or in New York City as it has in other regions, James finds herself performing out of town more often than not, but hopes to have an impact on local audiences.

Her set at Higher Calling 2K12 is a step in that direction. The concert showcases Urban Gospel, Christian Hip Hop, and Spoken Word artists, 25 in all, including Gauge, Prodigal Son, Leavin Stephen, Blood Coalition, 3D Remedy, The Rich Boys and more, Saturday, July 28 at 4:00 p.m. in Brooklyn’s Herbert Von King Park. READ MORE

Will you say "yes" to her debut album?

The Serious Voice of New York, known by her followers in New York as the "Yes lady," after recording her Christian rap song Yes, an acronym that means yielding entirely to the savior, is slated to release her long-awaited album in 2011.

According to her Twitter posts from @Serious_voiceny, the album will be called Shofar and is a deliberate declaration of war.

The Shofar was a musical instrument used by Joshua and the Children of Israel to bring the walls of Jericho down. Today it is still being used by certain Jewish sects to bring in the New Year.(READ MORE)
